Chapter 12: That Mask is Nothing Compared to Your Beauty:

A master who had already reached the peak of her abilities suddenly discovered someone far more powerful than herself. This realization left her feeling uneasy.

Ling Youruo couldn’t shake the feeling that everything had been going wrong lately.

She didn’t have absolute confidence in her upcoming duel with Luo Xinli. Her attempt to assassinate the princess of the Mysterious Jade Empire had failed, and she had even lost the 138th division of her sect.

And now, there was someone far stronger than her who had just barged into her residence?

It all felt like an ominous sign—was she destined to fail? In every aspect?

Under her mask, Ling Youruo’s cold eyes locked onto Ling Ye, the man before her, who looked like nothing more than a drunken fool.

She didn’t call for help. If she gave the order, countless experts from the Tianyou Sect could gather in an instant. But she didn’t do so, because she knew nothing about this man or his intentions. However, it was clear that he didn’t harbor any malice—if he did, she would already be dead.

Among true masters, one move was enough to decide life or death.

If this man truly wanted to kill her, she wouldn’t stand a chance. There wouldn’t even be time to call for help.

“There is a rare stone in this world, called the Heavenly Meteorite, from which a divine metal known as Bloodflame Iron can be refined.” Ling Ye said, holding Ling Youruo’s sword in front of him.

The sword was long and exquisite, with a faint dark red hue, like a precious gem. Both the blade and the hilt were dark red, as if they had been stained by countless battles.

“Three years ago, a mysterious assassin infiltrated the palace and attempted to kill the emperor. The sword that the assassin used was made of Bloodflame Iron,” Ling Ye continued. “Your sword here is forged from a metal that imitates the Bloodflame Iron. It’s a good sword, even if it’s only an imitation.”

With that, he flicked his finger.

The dark red sword flew back into Ling Youruo’s hand, sliding perfectly into its sheath.

“Who are you? What business do you have with my Tianyou Sect?” Ling Youruo asked coldly, her eyes still fixed on him from behind her mask.

“Why should I tell you? Unless...” Ling Ye smiled, taking another gulp of his wine before continuing, “Unless we talk face to face!”

With a swift movement, his figure moved forward!

Ling Youruo instinctively tried to dodge, but Ling Ye’s speed was beyond fast—it was as if he had transcended speed itself, moving in a realm beyond what could be called 'quick.'

In the next instant, Ling Youruo’s mask was snatched from her face, and Ling Ye was back in his original spot.

“This mask... it’s nothing compared to your beauty.” Ling Ye said with a smile, holding the mask in his hand as he looked at her.

“You’re courting death!” Ling Youruo’s chest heaved with anger as she gripped the hilt of her sword once more.

Someone had forcibly removed her mask?

To her, this was no different from being stripped of her clothes.

When had she ever been so humiliated?

Naturally, she was furious!

“Do you really want to continue?” Ling Ye suddenly asked, his tone reminding her of the futility of the situation.

Hearing his words, Ling Youruo resisted the urge to draw her sword. She knew she was no match for this man.

“If you wanted to kill me, you wouldn’t need to lift a finger,” Ling Ye said with a smile. “I have, at most, one or two days left to live.”

“Don’t believe me? Take a look!” He added, stepping closer and extending his wrist toward her.

Ling Youruo wanted to step back, but her pride kept her rooted in place. She stared at Ling Ye and his outstretched wrist, but she had no intention of checking. She didn’t care how much longer he had to live.

“It frustrates me, you know,” Ling Ye said, breaking the silence. “Why does someone as beautiful as you need to wear a mask and kill people just for looking at your face? It’s not like they’re looking anywhere else.”

As he spoke, his gaze lingered on her face, then slowly traveled down, taking in her perfect, seductive figure.

His stare made Ling Youruo want to gouge out his eyes and feed them to the dogs!

When had anyone ever dared to look at her like this?

“Hmph!” She snorted coldly, unable to retaliate. Instead, she turned her head to the side, offering him only her perfect profile—her snowy white, captivating profile.

Ling Ye laughed at this.

This woman was the ultimate villainess!

She was the complete opposite of Luo Xinli.

If Luo Xinli was an ethereal fairy untouched by the world, then Ling Youruo was a seductive and cold-hearted demoness.

Both were breathtakingly beautiful, but their personalities couldn’t be more different.

Luo Xinli was calm and gentle, approachable like a goddess. Ling Youruo, on the other hand, was alluring and cruel, an icy killer.

As he looked at her, Ling Ye chuckled, “I was just passing by, looking for some wine. And while I’m at it... maybe I’ll kill you for Luo Xinli.”
