Chapter 13: Are You Saying I’m Easy to Deal With?:

As soon as Ling Ye spoke, Ling Youruo’s eyes grew even colder.

So... this person is connected to Luo Xinli?

“Are you her friend?” Ling Youruo turned around and glared coldly at Ling Ye.

Luo Xinli had such a deep and unfathomable friend?

If that were the case, she truly wasn’t a match for her!

She, Ling Youruo, was a supreme martial artist with disciples from the Tianyou Demon Sect spread across the land. But Luo Xinli was also an extraordinary martial artist, with friends throughout the martial world.

There seemed to be no difference between the two of them. However, if Luo Xinli suddenly had a friend like this, then... perhaps she really was inferior to her.

“I wasn’t before, but now... I guess you could say we’re barely friends,” Ling Ye said with a smile, then continued, “Don’t get the wrong idea—I came here on my own. I really was just passing by, and it had nothing to do with her. She doesn’t even know.”

He was, in fact, just passing through, hoping to see if he could help Luo Xinli resolve her biggest problem. After all, he did have a connection with Luo Xinli, and it was quite a special one. But when he arrived here, he suddenly changed his mind—just now, he had changed his mind!

Ling Youruo tightened her grip on her sword and asked coldly, “Then why haven’t you made a move yet?”

“Doesn’t your Tianyou Sect still have the Ten Elders? I’ve heard they’re comparable to the Twelve Heavenly Stars who guard the emperor.” Ling Ye said with a faint smile. “Aren’t you going to call them out?”

“Would they make it in time?” Ling Youruo replied coldly.

The Tianyou Sect indeed had ten top experts, but now, if Ling Ye decided to strike, she wouldn’t stand a chance.

Summoning help?

She could call for help, and they would all arrive quickly. But no matter how fast, they couldn’t possibly be faster than this man’s single move. By the time they arrived, she would likely already be dead. So, what was the point?

“You’re right,” Ling Ye laughed, exhaling. “I did intend to kill you, but I suddenly changed my mind.”

Ling Youruo’s eyebrows furrowed slightly as she looked at him, waiting for him to continue.

“Because just now, in a pavilion deep within your garden, I found a child—a little girl about four or five years old,” Ling Ye said, looking at Ling Youruo. “There’s a rumor that five years ago, your left envoy betrayed you, and you killed him, along with his wife and their newborn child.”

At these words, Ling Youruo coldly snorted. “So, you think... I spared their family?”

“Isn’t that child proof enough?” Ling Ye smiled.

“You’re wrong!” Ling Youruo said coldly.

“Am I?” Ling Ye stared at her.

“Yes, that is their child, but the couple was already hacked to pieces and their bodies discarded in the wilderness,” Ling Youruo continued, her voice icy. “I only spared the child because of her exceptional physique and potential as a martial artist. I brought her back to train.”

“Oh? I see,” Ling Ye said with another smile.

“Do you think I would show mercy? Do you think I would be soft-hearted?” Ling Youruo asked, her gaze fixed on Ling Ye.

“No, of course not!” Ling Ye shook his head. “You’re the ultimate villainess, after all—you wouldn’t be soft-hearted.”

“So why did you kill Luo Xinli’s friends?” Ling Ye asked. “Some of them were even her mentors!”

Indeed, that was the reason for the upcoming duel between Luo Xinli and Ling Youruo. That was the root of their hatred. Ling Youruo had killed many of Luo Xinli’s friends. Luo Xinli had grown up in the martial world, constantly learning and improving amidst challenges.

Many people had taught her martial arts and could be considered her mentors—both teachers and friends. But nearly all of them had died at the hands of the Tianyou Sect, at Ling Youruo’s hands.

So, of course, Luo Xinli wanted revenge!

That’s why she openly challenged Ling Youruo, and Ling Youruo, standing on the reputation of the Tianyou Sect, had no choice but to accept.

“Could there have been some kind of misunderstanding? If so, don’t you want to explain it?” Ling Ye asked, trying to probe further. Although he didn’t know much about the original story or the truth, in novels, there often were misunderstandings, right?

Ling Youruo said coldly, “There’s no misunderstanding! They were all imperial dogs. I killed every one of them I came across!”

She didn’t explain further.

There was nothing to explain.

She had killed them—she and her Tianyou Sect had killed them.

The reason?

They were all connected to the imperial court.

Hearing this, Ling Ye shook his head.

Well, the very existence of the Tianyou Sect was to oppose the imperial court, so of course, she wouldn’t spare anyone associated with it. Naturally, this put her at odds with Luo Xinli. There was no way around it!

“If that’s the case... after your duel with her, if you survive, it’s best not to make an enemy of her in the future,” Ling Ye said, taking another sip of his wine as he gave a word of caution.

“If I make her my enemy, will you intervene?” Ling Youruo asked coldly, her eyes fixed on Ling Ye.

“No, I won’t!” Ling Ye sighed, downing a gulp of strong wine with a bitter smile. “Even if I wanted to intervene, I wouldn’t be able to in the future.”

He could only help Luo Xinli this once. Afterward, even if he wanted to help, he wouldn’t be able to—because he wouldn’t live past two days!

But... Luo Xinli was the female protagonist.

Would anyone who opposed her have a good ending?

Those who opposed the child of destiny would naturally meet a bad end!

“Anyway... she’s not someone you want to mess with.” Ling Ye said with a smile.

“Are you saying I’m someone who is easy to deal with?” Ling Youruo glared at Ling Ye.
