Chapter 89:

The old man and the young man fled from the secret realm in a panic. They stood at the entrance, bending over, desperately gasping for air.

Terrifying!

The look in that man’s eyes just now—it was simply terrifying!

He looked to be only in his twenties, but those eyes seemed to belong to a demon who had weathered centuries of bloodshed and turmoil. Just a single glance made the old man and the young man's legs tremble uncontrollably.

“Damn it... Who exactly are those two people?” The old man, who had seen his fair share of the world, quickly calmed his fear.

In contrast, the young man was still sweating profusely from his forehead. “That technique—it’s not something from the lower realm.”

“Could they be from the upper realm?” The old man’s face changed as he realized the possibility.

On the Qiankun Continent, the upper realm and lower realm were separated by only a single mountain, the Holy Mountain, the most revered place in the far east of the continent.

“Are these two rogue cultivators from the upper realm, or are they disciples of a holy land?” The old man’s heart grew heavy. If they were rogue cultivators, it might not be too much of a problem. But if they were disciples of a holy land, then the Nalan Merchant Guild could be in serious trouble!

In the lower realm, no matter how powerful a force was, it ultimately ranked below the holy lands. Moreover, the Nalan Merchant Guild, though currently thriving, was still in its early stages of development.

Many sects and forces supporting the guild were only doing so to gain benefits from it. But when weighing the Nalan Merchant Guild against the holy lands, everyone knew which one held more importance.

The young man gritted his teeth, a vicious look flashing across his face. “No matter who they are, we absolutely cannot let them leave the secret realm alive! Their talents are so exceptional, they could easily surpass all the geniuses of the Qiankun Continent. If they escape and grow stronger, our Nalan Merchant Guild might be doomed...”

The old man nodded slightly, but when he glanced at the group of cultivators who had just escaped from the secret realm, he knew that the ragtag group of mercenaries they had hired wouldn’t be enough to deal with those two.

“It seems that we have no choice but to destroy the entrance to the secret realm.” The old man said coldly, gritting his teeth.

“Destroy it?” The young man was shocked and a bit pained. “Third Uncle, but there are still many treasures in that secret realm. If we destroy the entrance, it will be almost impossible to open it again.”

The old man snapped angrily, “So what! We can’t let the Nalan Merchant Guild be ruined because of these two!”

The young man sighed and reluctantly agreed.

Seeing this, the old man pushed the young man aside and struck the entrance to the secret realm with his palm. As his profound energy poured in, the illusory, mirror-like entrance began to tremble.

Buzz!

(Inside the secret realm)

Qu Qinghan was still nestled in Xu Ze’s arms, lost in bliss.

All her previous anger and darkness had vanished, replaced with thoughts of the sweet future they would share together.

Xu Ze, though smiling bitterly, was relieved to see that she had regained her composure.

But just as they were lost in their affection, a loud rumbling suddenly echoed from the sky above the secret realm. Dark clouds rolled in, lightning flashed, and thunder roared. It was as if the entire world was about to collapse—the earth trembled, and the sky shattered like a broken mirror, with pieces falling down.

“What... what’s happening?” Qu Qinghan was startled; it was the first time she had seen anything like this.

Xu Ze’s expression grew serious, and he sneered. “It seems the Nalan Merchant Guild is closing the secret realm.”

“They want to silence us?” Qu Qinghan, no longer the shy girl from a moment ago, turned icy, her demeanor like that of an aloof and holy maiden. “How audacious! To think that there are such insolent people on the Qiankun continent."

As she spoke, Qu Qinghan took out a spirit jade.

This jade was a special communication jade used exclusively by the holy lands, and only the Holy Son and Holy Maiden were qualified to use it.

If broken, it would summon the elders, countless experts, and even hidden masters from the holy land to teleport to the Holy or Holy Maiden’s side. This was the most common method of seeking help when the Holy Son and Holy Maiden encountered danger while outside.

Seeing her take out the jade, Xu Ze quickly grabbed Qu Qinghan’s hand, stopping her.

Qu Qinghan looked at him in confusion, but Xu Ze just shook his head with a cold smile.

“If we call the elders now, it won’t be any fun. These scound.rels—it’ll be more satisfying to deal with them ourselves, don’t you think?” Xu Ze’s eyes gleamed with a dangerous light.

Earlier, the two of them had both used techniques from the holy land.

Even a blind person could guess that they were affiliated with the holy land.

But instead of begging for mercy, these people had the nerve to try and kill them to cover their tracks. It was an outrageous display of disrespect toward the holy land!

Xu Ze’s fierce demeanor left Qu Qinghan slightly dazed, as if she was seeing a glimpse of the terrifying presence he had when he was the Lord of the Demon Abyss.

“...”

“Hmm?” Xu Ze was puzzled by her silence.

“I said, the man I like looks so handsome at times like this.” Qu Qinghan said with a smile, her eyes reflecting Xu Ze’s image.

“...”

Xu Ze blushed slightly and coughed into his fist to cover his embarrassment.

Qu Qinghan had always been this way—cold on the outside but warm on the inside.

Once a person got close to her, they would realize she wasn’t as difficult to get along with as she seemed.

In fact, she was even more affectionate than the others. This was precisely why, in his past nine lives, Xu Ze hadn’t wanted to abandon her for the sake of the plot.

Fortunately, in this tenth life, he had escaped the fate of being the main villain and was now playing a pure love route.

Though it wasn’t the right time to go all the way, he didn’t mind a little girlfriend development and some romantic moments.

“Come on, let’s tear these bastards apart, hand in hand.” Xu Ze said as he slowly stood up, his eyes filled with dominance and a cold smile appearing on his lips. His robes fluttered in the wind, and his long black hair billowed, making him look like an unbeatable war god!

Qu Qinghan had never seen Xu Ze like this before.

According to her memories, Xu Ze was always calm and unfathomable. Even when he had turned to the dark side, he had exuded a sinister and malevolent aura. But now...

She didn’t know if it was because they had shared their feelings or something else, but Qu Qinghan couldn’t help but feel that this version of Xu Ze was almost unfairly attractive.

Covering her lips with her hand, her heart pounded as stars sparkled in her eyes.

How could she ever share a man like this with anyone else?

Xu Ze leaped into the sky, soaring upward.

Qu Qinghan, snapping out of her daze, quickly wiped the drool from her mouth and hurriedly followed him.
