Chapter 19: Everything Belongs to Jiang Ruoxi:
"It's impossible to tie for first place. Even if we split the magical beast crystals evenly, the sect elders can still discern which crystals are superior," Ling Kong said with a light smile. "The first-place reward is only one. Since you want it, it's yours!"
Among the first-place rewards was a great opportunity: a fragment of an ancient cultivation technique, unknown even to the sect elders.
In the original novel, Xia Yuran had benefited from it. It was a technique specifically designed for females, and Ling Kong couldn't use it anyway. Therefore, after winning first place, he planned to give the reward to Jiang Ruoxi.
"No, you should have it! After all, you are the best!" Jiang Ruoxi said, smiling as she shook her head. "I only want one item from the reward, is that okay?"
She had practiced dark arts to enhance her strength before the hunting competition, aiming for first place because there was something in the reward she had to obtain.
Ling Kong smiled, knowing exactly what Jiang Ruoxi wanted. It was a fragment of the cultivation technique, right?
"You can have whatever you want!" Ling Kong replied with a gentle smile. He then reached out his hand and lightly pinched Jiang Ruoxi's fair cheek.
This sudden gesture made Jiang Ruoxi's heart skip a beat, her entire body trembling slightly as her face flushed red.
What was that for?!
Why did he suddenly do that? It was so intimate!
Jiang Ruoxi lowered her head, feeling shy, while Ling Kong chuckled again.
Her bashfulness was so endearing!
How was Xia Yuran better than this?
Seeing Xia Yuran was tiresome. She always acted cheerful and cute, flirting and joking with everyone, thinking it made her seem charming. It was just low-class behavior!

Not far away, Xia Yuran saw Ling Kong pinch Jiang Ruoxi's cheek, and the roasted meat in her hand fell to the ground.

Ling Kong should have been hers, and the cub should have been hers too. But now, they all belong to Jiang Ruoxi. All she could do was stay with Bai Feng and the others, eating bland roasted meat and watching others be happy. It was unbearable!
But no matter how unhappy she felt, she couldn't express it. The more she spoke up now, the more foolish she would appear.
"Yuran, don't be angry. He's just a bit better than us," Li Junting consoled her. "Within a month, I'll surpass him! And in the sect competition a month from now, I'll take first place! I'm about to make a breakthrough to the 8th stage of the Spirit Refinement Realm!"
