Chapter 71: No More Pretending, a Showdown with Ye Qianrou:

Although the police had basically confirmed that Chen Bansheng died by jumping off a building, the personal grudge between Sun Xiuping and Lu Yu, rooted in their encounter at Mingyue Hotel, still lingered.

Now, with his mother and Uncle backing him, Sun Xiuping was ready to set everything aside and settle this score.

As far as he was concerned, this wasn’t some petty brawl. This was an outright confrontation, not a hooligan’s fight—at least that’s how Sun Xiuping saw it.

Lu Yu watched as the group entered the room.

Ye Qianrou’s subordinates quickly brought her a stool, and two more bodyguards from Lu Yu’s villa followed behind her. The villa didn’t employ a security company, so it had limited bodyguards—two on duty during the day, along with two security guards and four bodyguards in total. However, after the two guards had already been taken down, only two remained.

Still, Lu Yu remained calm. He focused his gaze on Sun Xiuping. "You’re here for revenge today?"

"Exactly!" Sun Xiuping declared proudly.

Lu Yu couldn’t help but laugh. "Just the few of you?"

A man standing behind Ye Qianrou spoke up, "Kid, are you too naive to realize who you're dealing with? Do you even know who I am?"

The man had naturally curly hair, a medium build, dark skin, and a scar running down his fierce face. His muscular build and the scar gave off the impression that he was not to be trifled with—a ruthless man, if nothing else.

Lu Yu glanced at him, and suddenly a set of stats appeared before his eyes.

...

Name: Xu Lang

Age: 43

Height: 173 cm

Weight: 141 lbs

Vitality: 20

Mental Power: 15

Fighting Skills: Proficient

Assassin Skills: None

Firearm Skills: Proficient

Hidden Weapon Skills: None

Internal Strength: None

...

Lu Yu’s pupil power evolution allowed him to see others’ basic information, personal attributes, and combat skills. This was one of the special rewards that could only be obtained by killing protagonists.

Each time Lu Yu killed a protagonist, the system randomly granted him one or two special rewards based on the strength of his opponent. This time, he had chosen to unlock the ability to view personal attribute data.

Xu Lang’s attributes weren’t bad—still maintaining 20 vitality points in his forties, coupled with proficient fighting skills. Against ordinary people, he’d be formidable. Even Chen Bansheng would have struggled to defeat him. However, to Lu Yu, this level was nothing.

"I don’t know who you are, and I don’t care," Lu Yu said calmly. "If you’re here to settle a score, just state your terms. No need for all this bravado."

"Lu family boy, your courage is impressive!" Ye Qianrou, who had remained silent until now, finally spoke. "You’re much braver than my son..."

"Mom..." Sun Xiuping interjected.

"Quiet!" Ye Qianrou snapped at her son. She then turned to Lu Yu. "Lu Yu, while I admire your abilities, you deceived my son and disrespected your superiors. If I don’t teach you a lesson today, it would be unjust. Cang Lang, take care of him. Don’t go too far—show some respect for Lu Mingyuan."

"Yes, madam!" Cang Lang, also known as Xu Lang, was ready.

Ye Qianrou, having risen from the underworld, had never shown mercy to those who challenged her authority. This time, it wasn’t just Lu Yu’s insults that brought her here—there was another, deeper test she had in mind.

With his orders, Xu Lang smirked cruelly and rushed toward Lu Yu without a word. In his eyes, this rich second-generation Feng Shui expert was an easy target.

Sun Xiuping grinned, convinced that Uncle would easily crush Lu Yu. Ye Qianrou watched quietly from her chair.

Seeing Xu Lang charge at Lu Yu, the two remaining Lu family bodyguards stepped in to intercept. But with a vitality of only around 15 and entry-level fighting skills, they were no match for Xu Lang. Even bodyguards who had reached proficiency were rare.

Crack! Boom!

In just two quick blows, Xu Lang had knocked out the bodyguards, leaving them unable to fight.

Seeing this, Sun Xiuping smirked. Uncle hadn’t lost his touch after all.

Just as the two bodyguards hit the floor, a shadow darted from Lu Yu’s side. There was a muffled sound, and then...

Boom!

Xu Lang, who had just seemed invincible, was sent flying and crashed heavily to the ground.

Sun Xiuping and his men were stunned, their eyes wide with disbelief. Even Ye Qianrou narrowed her eyes. Xu Lang, her trusted enforcer, had been kicked away?

This didn’t make sense. They knew how strong Xu Lang was. A few ordinary bodyguards couldn’t have possibly matched him, let alone defeated him in a single blow.

Everyone turned to look at the man who had intervened—Yang Jian. He was a plain-looking man, about 175 cm tall, with dark skin. He wore a simple black T-shirt, sweatpants, and sneakers. He stood silently behind Lu Yu, blending into the background until the moment he moved.

When Xu Lang had attacked, Yang Jian had responded immediately. If not for the kick that sent Xu Lang flying, no one would have noticed his presence.

"Did you really think someone like this could teach me a lesson?" Lu Yu smirked and spoke in a slightly hoarse voice. "I’m sorry to disappoint you, madam."

Ye Qianrou’s gaze turned cold. That hoarse voice—it was exactly like the mysterious man’s voice from that night. Was her suspicion correct?

"Boy, you’re asking for death..." Xu Lang’s angry shout interrupted her thoughts.

With his vitality at 20, Xu Lang wasn’t out of the fight yet. Though Yang Jian had knocked him down, he rolled and got back on his feet. Being kicked so easily was a huge embarrassment, and now his anger was boiling.

But just as he prepared to attack again, Ye Qianrou’s sharp voice rang out.

"Xu Lang, stop!"

Both Xu Lang and Sun Xiuping turned to look at her in surprise.

"Madam?"

"Mom?"

Ye Qianrou’s expression was complicated. "Xu Lang, stand down."

"But madam..."

"I said stand down!" Ye Qianrou’s tone brooked no argument.

Reluctantly, Xu Lang backed away, clearly displeased but unwilling to disobey.

Seeing this, Yang Jian silently retreated behind Lu Yu once more, his presence as quiet and unassuming as ever. He was like Lu Yu’s shadow, always there, ready to protect him.

"Take Ping’er outside." Ye Qianrou commanded.

"Yes.Xu Lang responded.

Sun Xiuping was surprised but didn’t dare question his mother’s decision. He quickly followed Xu Lang out of the reception room.

Lu Yu watched with a calm smile as Yang Jian escorted the two injured bodyguards out as well.

Within minutes, both sides had cleared the room, leaving only Lu Yu and Ye Qianrou behind.

As the door closed, Ye Qianrou turned to Lu Yu and said, "It seems my suspicion was right—the mysterious person from that night was you."

"So, what do you think now?" Lu Yu replied, his tone filled with confidence. With his danger perception and Yang Jian by his side, he stopped pretending and faced Ye Qianrou head-on. "Do you really think you can escape from my grasp?"

"You’re playing with fire," Ye Qianrou warned, her eyes narrowing, a flash of killing intent crossing her face.

"What’s the matter, Mrs. Ye? Or should I say, Miss Yuko Hattori?" Lu Yu sneered, sensing her hostility. "Do you really think you can challenge me?"

"You’re asking for death!"
