Chapter 303:
Xiao Yan was a very interesting person.
After discovering that Lin Yan knew little about the rules within the Temple of Destiny, Xiao Yan straightforwardly explained everything he knew.

Although Lin Yan and Xiao Yan had not officially joined the Temple of Destiny, they were considered its members, granting them the same rights to claim territory. Lin Yan's current territory was the very area beneath his feet. This region was vast, almost like a small world of its own.
Within this small world, Lin Yan could even sense the presence of life. According to Xiao Yan, this territory belonged entirely to themselves, and unless they chose to leave, they could do as they wished within it.
Additionally, if Lin Yan or others had any questions or needed to contact other members of the Temple of Destiny, they could do so through the temple’s spirit. This spirit was omnipresent on Destiny Mountain and could be summoned at any time for assistance. To demonstrate, Xiao Yan summoned the spirit right before Lin Yan’s eyes, helping him officially claim his territory.
While Lin Yan was busy with these tasks, a familiar voice suddenly reached his ears: “Lin Yan, well done. I didn’t expect you to pass the Temple of Destiny’s test in such a short time. This is quite surprising.”
Hearing this, Lin Yan grinned.
The owner of this voice speaker was Qin Tao, the one who had personally brought him to the Temple of Destiny for the trial. Now that Lin Yan had claimed his territory, even a high god like Qin Tao couldn't enter without permission. After chatting with Xiao Yan for a while, Lin Yan went out personally to bring Qin Tao into his territory.
Seeing a high god arrive in person, Xiao Yan’s eyes lit up. He had thought Lin Yan was merely lucky and talented enough to join the Temple of Destiny by chance. “Elder, Sect Master Qi of the Fanyin Battle Pavilion is here to see you,” a Heavenly Sect disciple hurriedly reported.
Qi Bing became the current sect master of Fanyin Battle Pavilion and was a woman whose fame had risen sharply. All major sects treated such a powerful figure with caution, especially since many in the Heavenly Sect knew of her close relationship with Duan Kaishan.
Hearing Qi Bing’s name, Duan Kaishan smiled and waved his hand. “Let that girl Qi Bing come to me herself. Does she expect an old man like me to go see her?”
“Yes.” The disciple replied awkwardly and left.
For him, Duan Kaishan was a frail old man, while Qi Bing was in her prime. Out of respect for her position, Duan Kaishan should have gone to meet her.
Not long after the disciple left, a clear voice rang in Duan Kaishan’s ears again. “Elder Duan, I traveled a long way to see you, and you won’t even come to greet me?”
Following the voice, Qi Bing emerged from behind a large tree.
Though she still looked young and beautiful, her demeanor had become much more composed.
Seeing her, Duan Kaishan smiled. “You see how old I am now. Running out to greet you might just take my last bit of strength.”
Observing Duan Kaishan’s aged appearance, Qi Bing’s expression grew serious. “Elder Duan, how much longer can you hold on?”
Duan Kaishan, being a powerful 8th-rank practitioner, had a lifespan far exceeding that of ordinary people and could live over a hundred years. But even so, he had reached his limit. Shaking his head, he smiled bitterly, “I can probably hold on for another six months.”
“Only six months?” Qi Bing exclaimed, looking at Duan Kaishan with a face filled with sorrow.
“Elder Duan, I’ve resigned from my position as the sect master of Fanyin Battle Pavilion just to come and find the Master with you. He promised to come back for us, but it seems I won’t live to see that day.”
Duan Kaishan sighed. His eyes reflected memories of traveling the world with Lin Yan decades ago. He had always hoped Lin Yan would return and take him away from this world, just to catch a glimpse of what lay beyond. Unfortunately, after all these years, Lin Yan had never reappeared.
Just as Qi Bing was about to speak, a giant hand suddenly appeared above them, grasping both Duan Kaishan and Qi Bing without resistance. The hand quickly withdrew into the sky, unnoticed by anyone in Heavenly Sect.
In the ninth territory of Destiny Mountain, Lin Yan casually tossed down the elderly Duan Kaishan and Qi Bing, causing them to fall to the ground.
“Master.” They both exclaimed in surprise and joy upon seeing Lin Yan.
But Duan Kaishan soon started gasping for breath; his frail body had reached its limit. Lin Yan, watching his old friend’s weakened state, shook his head silently. His delay in retrieving Duan Kaishan had nearly resulted in seeing only his corpse.
Having officially become a member of the Temple of Destiny, Lin Yan had only met with Xiao Yan and Qin Tao briefly.
After sending them off, he had summoned the spirit of Destiny Mountain to familiarize himself with the mountain’s various aspects. This included figuring out if he could bring Duan Kaishan and Qi Bing from the trial world.
According to the spirit, if they were ordinary beings in the trial world, they could be brought out directly. Thus, Lin Yan personally fetched them.
However, the time flow in the trial world differed greatly from that of Destiny Mountain. For Lin Yan, only a moment had passed, less than a day, but in the trial world, decades had gone by for Duan Kaishan and Qi Bing. If Lin Yan had delayed any longer, both might have died of old age. Lin Yan learned firsthand the effects of differing time flows.
