Chapter 79:

Elder Qingdan was the teaching elder of the Alchemy Hall at the Holy Fire Palace. Jing Xiaoxuan argued with him over teaching methods. Clearly, her alchemy skills surpassed Elder Qingdan's by a significant margin. Her mastery of nine reincarnations of alchemy almost rendered Elder Qingdan speechless.

Fortunately, Xu Ze's timely intervention put an end to their argument.

“This level of skill, and he still dares to teach students? What kind of alchemy is this?” Jing Xiaoxuan huffed angrily, stomping her feet beside Xu Ze.

Xu Ze could only smile wryly, feeling helpless. “It seems you don’t need to attend the Alchemy Hall classes anymore?”

“Hmph, those old men have nothing to teach me.” Jing Xiaoxuan crossed her arms and huffed, “You might as well give me my own alchemy room, so I can practice on my own.”

Jing Xiaoxuan's request had a bit of personal motive. Her meridians were damaged from birth, and to re-enter the path of the profound way like in her previous nine lives, she needed to refine a special elixir to repair them.

However, as a mere mortal without the necessary herbs or a furnace, she couldn’t make the elixir. Merely listening in the Alchemy Hall wouldn't help her gain practical experience.

“If you want to refine elixirs, I'll have someone set up a room for you.” Xu Ze said with a smile.

“Really?” Jing Xiaoxuan's eyes lit up with joy.

“Of course. Here, I have a special ingredient. If you want to refine something, use this.” Xu Ze retrieved a thousand-year-old Dragon Yin Grass from his storage ring, which Lu Qingqing had previously taken from Ye Fan in the secret realm.

“Dragon Yin Grass?” Jing Xiaoxuan gasped as she took the glowing blue herb, its faint dragon roar audible. She was astonished.

“Where did you get such a divine item?” she asked.

“I found it in the secret realm earlier,” Xu Ze replied with a smile. “Use it for your alchemy practice.”

“Really… you want me to use such a valuable herb?” Jing Xiaoxuan was overwhelmed, “But… what if I ruin it?”

“If you ruin it, consider it a gift from me.” Xu Ze gently pinched her cheek and said, “In my eyes, the value of this Dragon Yin Grass isn’t even half as valuable as you.”

These words were sincere.

While the Dragon Yin Grass was precious, it wasn’t of much use to Xu Ze. But to Jing Xiaoxuan, its value was incredibly high. His words moved her deeply.

“I won’t let you down! I’ll refine the best elixirs for you!” Jing Xiaoxuan clutched the herb tightly, her eyes filled with determination.

Soon, Xu Ze ordered a private alchemy room to be prepared for her at the Holy Fire Palace. Though he offered assistants, Jing Xiaoxuan insisted on doing everything herself. She then promptly turned around and shut Xu Ze out of the room to begin her alchemy practice.

“Holy Son, don’t disturb me for the next ten days or so!” she called out.

Watching the busy scene inside the alchemy room, Xu Ze could only rub his forehead in exasperation. Fine, let her focus on her alchemy. When she started, she would forget everything else. Meanwhile, he needed to think about a birthday gift for Qu Qinghan.

Xu Ze considered asking Lin Yuer, Lu Qingqing, and the other girls for advice, but the thought of their mutual dislike made him hesitate. Asking them might only lead to more trouble. Feeling frustrated, Xu Ze left the Holy Fire Palace and wandered around the floating island, arriving at the Zixia Palace.

At that moment, the disciples of Zixia Palace were gathered, discussing something enthusiastically.

Curious, Xu Ze approached and saw them comparing some exquisite magical artifacts.

“Brother Wang’s Exquisite Jade Pendant was crafted by a master from Donghuang Longming Prefecture. Truly magnificent!”

“Oh no, look at Sister Liu’s Sword. The blade is made of rainbow iron, and the sheath of top-grade Jade, forged by three thousand royal craftsmen over twenty years.”

“Brother Zhang is too modest. I see your…”

“Ahem.” Xu Ze cleared his throat, causing the disciples to jump and hurriedly bow.

“Greetings, Holy Son.”

Xu Ze nodded and walked past them. As he did, he paused and asked, “Have you heard of any rare items suitable for gifts?”

The disciples exchanged glances. Then, Brother Wang stepped forward with a smile. “Holy Son, are you troubled by the Holy Maiden’s birthday next month?”

Xu Ze frowned slightly, displeased by the assumption, and coughed.

Brother Wang quickly apologized, “Forgive me, Holy Son. I didn’t mean to pry into your thoughts. Please forgive me!”

Xu Ze waved it off. “It doesn't matter. You know, the Holy Maiden and I have grown up in the Holy Heaven and Earth Sect. The common spiritual treasures here might not impress her.”

Brother Wang’s eyes gleamed with an idea. “If that’s the case, why not visit the lower realm yourself to find a gift?”

He continued, “I’ve heard that a force called ‘Nalan Chamber of Commerce’ has risen rapidly in the lower realm. They claim to have everything the world offers, from heavenly treasures to rare beasts. If you’re troubled about a gift, why not spend some time there?”

Xu Ze was taken aback.

Nalan Chamber of Trade?

Those words made his eyelid twitch, recalling two particularly troublesome girls from his past lives.

“Nalan Chamber of Commerce might be fine…” he muttered, “But those two ladies…”

Big trouble.
