Chapter 35: Treating the Murderer as a Benefactor?:
“No! I don’t believe it!”
Being blocked outside the Tang residence, Long Tian was still in disbelief.
He couldn’t accept that anyone in the world could possess better medical skills than him. Unable to enter, he decided to wait outside.
“I must see who you are!” He couldn’t believe Ye Liuyun wouldn’t come out eventually.
(Inside the Tang Family residence)
The atmosphere remained lively due to Tang Ming’s recovery, and everyone was visibly happy.
“Mr. Ye, from today on, if you need anything from the Tang family, just let us know!”
“Yes, indeed! You’ve cured Xiao Ming; you’re a great benefactor to the Tang family!”
Hearing this, Ye Liuyun nodded knowingly. “Well, there is something I need from you.”
“What is it?” Everyone, including Tang Kangzheng, looked on curiously, wondering what Ye Liuyun could possibly want from their family. They were prepared to repay his kindness but were also cautious about the nature of the request.
“Could you get me a drink?”
“Huh?” Their serious expressions froze. They thought they had misheard.
[Who eats without a drink? It’s either tea or plain water, and that’s unbearable!]
“Pfft!”
Tang Gulan couldn’t help but burst into laughter, breaking the silence with her laughter.
“Cough, cough!” Realizing the attention, Tang Gulan cleared her throat and tried to regain her composure. She understood clearly that for many, associating with the Tang family was an honor, but for someone like Ye Liuyun, a transmigrator, it wasn’t the same. It was hard to say who was benefiting more from this relationship.
“Never mind, Grandpa, I’ll have someone get Mr. Ye a drink.”
Despite the small interruption, the atmosphere remained positive.
However, news of Long Tian waiting outside soon reached them.
“Master! Long Tian is still waiting outside. We don’t know what to do!”
The previously joyful atmosphere turned somber at the mention of Long Tian. Even Tang Kangzheng frowned.
“If he wants to wait, let him wait!” one of the Tang family members said indignantly. “If it weren’t for him saving a member of the Tang family, we’d have gotten rid of him long ago!”
“Exactly!” Others echoed, including Tang Gulan.
Ye Liuyun remained calm outwardly, though he couldn’t help but think internally.
[The Tang family is indeed loyal and righteous! However, the truth is, Long Tian’s so-called favor to the Tang family has issues!]
Issues? Tang Gulan’s eating paused slightly. The Tang family’s respect for Long Tian stemmed from this supposed favor. If this favor was questionable, then…
[If I remember correctly, according to the novel, when Long Tian was still a mercenary, he encountered a member of the Tang family on the battlefield and saved him as a matter of course!]
Ye Liuyun recalled the plot.
[But in reality, it was Long Tian’s mercenary squad that attacked the Tang family member in the first place!]
What! Even Tang Gulan found this hard to believe. If not for her strong mental fortitude, she might have exclaimed aloud.
[After the battle ended, Long Tian saw the Tang family member was still alive. Since mercenaries work for money, and the battle was over, he had no reason to finish him off. He casually dumped the unconscious Tang family member at a run-down clinic!]
[Even without Long Tian’s intervention, the Tang family member would have been saved during post-battle cleanup! He survived purely because of his strong will!]
[Tsk tsk!]
Ye Liuyun found the story interesting and resumed eating, but Tang Gulan had lost her appetite. Her fists clenched tightly in anger, wishing she could confront Long Tian immediately.
Her uncle was the one saved back then, and to this day, he was grateful to Long Tian, unaware that Long Tian was the one who had attacked him in the first place. Battling on the battlefield for honor was one thing, but Long Tian, the perpetrator, had exploited the situation to pose as a benefactor, indebting the Tang family to him!
“Damn it!”
“Sis?” Tang Ming’s voice snapped her back to reality.
“Hmm?” She was still a bit dazed.
“I’ve noticed you’ve been lost in thought. Are you thinking about that Long Tian?”
She shook her head slightly. Tang Ming continued.
“Though I had an intellectual disability, I remember everything now. When you weren’t around, Long Tian kept telling me to say good things about him to you. It’s clear now his real target was you all along!”
Already furious, Tang Gulan’s fists clenched even tighter at this.
“I know!”
Tang Ming, feeling the tension, hesitated but then spoke softly.
“Sis, I think we should look forward, not back.”
“Huh?” She didn’t understand.
Tang Ming glanced toward Ye Liuyun and then said earnestly, “Mr. Ye is great, isn’t he? Forget about Long Tian. Mr. Ye is much better. Why don’t you try to make him your brother-in-law?”
“...”
Forget about Long Tian? And make Ye Liuyun his brother-in-law? Imagining this, Tang Gulan’s face turned bright red. She playfully hit Tang Ming.
“You’re just a kid! What do you know? Say another word, and I’ll really hit you!”
She finished with a light smack, but inside, her thoughts were swirling.
