Chapter 9: This Lady Has Plenty of Men, You're Just One Less:
She never imagined that after rejecting to team up with her, Ling Kong would choose Jiang Ruoxi instead. How infuriating! Especially when the surrounding disciples commented on how well-matched they were. Xia Yuran found it unbearable.
"Bastard... Are you trying to anger me? I won't fall for it! I don't care about you at all, not one bit!" Xia Yuran took several deep breaths to calm herself. Getting angry would mean falling right into Ling Kong's trap. He was deliberately provoking her.
"You want me to give in? Hmph, let's see who gives in first!" Xia Yuran snorted coldly. Then, she grabbed Bai Feng's hand. "Brother Bai Feng, hold my hand!"
"Uh... okay! Okay!" Bai Feng was initially stunned, then overjoyed. He couldn't believe his luck—she actually let him hold her hand? Even though he knew Xia Yuran was doing it to anger Ling Kong, he still felt it was worth it.
"Hmph!" Xia Yuran held Bai Feng's hand and looked over at Ling Kong. She expected Ling Kong to turn and see her, realizing the seriousness of the situation. However, Ling Kong didn't even glance her way, making her even more frustrated.
'Bastard Ling Kong, look back at me! I’m holding another boy’s hand now!'
"Hmph! I bet you can't ignore this!" Xia Yuran huffed. She decided to keep holding hands until Ling Kong noticed. Bai Feng grinned smugly, hoping Ling Kong never turned around.
Meanwhile, Li Junting and others cast envious glances at Bai Feng, wishing they were in his place.
"Senior Brother Li, hold my other hand!" Xia Yuran called out.
"Oh... okay, okay!" Li Junting responded with delight, and grabbed her other hand.
With both her hands held by two men, Xia Yuran sneered, "Ling Kong, this will drive you mad!"
"By the way, isn't Jiang Ruoxi at the 8th stage of the Spirit Refinement Realm too? Their team isn't weak." Bai Feng commented, glancing at Ling Kong and Jiang Ruoxi ahead.
"So what? We have two at the 8th stage and over ten at the 7th!" Xia Yuran retorted.
"True! We'll give you all our results, and you'll be the champion!" Bai Feng laughed.
Xia Yuran stared at Ling Kong and Jiang Ruoxi standing together like an ideal couple, her face growing increasingly sour.
'Bastard Ling Kong, just wait! I'll make you realize I have plenty of men, I don't need you at all!'
"Good! Since everyone is ready, the hunting competition officially begins!" Yun Jian, at the forefront, flicked his finger. A burst of sword Qi shot from the mountain base to the sky, striking the sect's great bell atop the mountain.
Dong!!!
The resonant bell echoed across the land. In the center of the square, a giant portal appeared, leading directly to the Grand Valley of Magical Beasts.
"Charge!" The disciples rushed into the portal, eager to start hunting. Time was limited; the first to enter would have the advantage.
"If I become a burden, you can leave me anytime." Jiang Ruoxi said softly, looking at Ling Kong. She didn’t want to hold him back. Although she was one of the best disciples, she knew she couldn’t compare to Ling Kong, who was the strongest.
"I would never abandon you." Ling Kong said, turning to look at her. Their eyes met, and Jiang Ruoxi's heart raced, a blush spreading across her cheeks. His gaze was gentle, and his words seemed sincere. But she feared he was only acting this way to spite Xia Yuran. Even if this happiness was fleeting, she would cherish it.
"Let's go!" Ling Kong smiled, and they headed toward the portal.
Not far away, Xia Yuran tightened her grip on Bai Feng and Li Junting's hands as Ling Kong turned around.
'See, Ling Kong? This is what you get for angering me! I'm holding hands with other boys now, and I could have many more if I wanted!'
However, Ling Kong didn't look at her or anyone else. He simply led Jiang Ruoxi into the portal, completely ignoring them.
Xia Yuran was stunned.
When Ling Kong turned around, she was clearly in his line of sight, yet he didn't even glance at her. He treated her as if she were invisible, ignoring all of them.
"Ling Kong, you bastard! Are you blind?" Xia Yuran gritted her teeth in anger. This bastard knew she was holding hands with other boys, yet he didn't even look. He left with another girl right in front of her? This was too much!
