Chapter 12: The Holy Maiden! Su Mu's Future Dao Companion?:

"Who can you blame but yourself for seeking trouble?"

Inside the ring, the demoness in red robes laid lazily on her side, her curvaceous figure accentuated by her flowing, flame-like hair, exuding a breathtaking beauty.

At this moment, she rolled her eyes in exasperation.

As the saying goes, curiosity killed the cat—how true.

“Why him? Why is it always him!?”

Gu Chen's emotions were unraveling, rage boiling within his chest and distorting his face, mixed with a sense of helplessness. That blinding sword beam, as bright as the sun...

Could he ever catch up to it?

No one who entered the Absolute Beginning Holy Sect as a disciple was foolish. The prison guard noticed Gu Chen’s twisted expression and the burning anger in his eyes, and a sudden thought struck him.

Damn...

Could it be that this guy has a grudge against Young Master Su Mu?

Recalling that Young Master Su Mu had gone out some time ago, and right after, this Gu Chen was thrown into the dungeon... And wasn't there a time when Elder Fang even inquired about Gu Chen’s situation?

With that thought, the prison guard’s suspicions solidified, and fear gripped his heart.

Sure, Gu Chen had helped him with some cultivation problems recently, and he was grateful for that.

Gu Chen had also claimed he was imprisoned for offending an outer sect elder, so the guard hadn't been concerned. But who could have known this s.coundrel had offended Young Master Su Mu?

If word got out, the guard could forget about staying in the Absolute Beginning Holy Sect. Even if Young Master Su Mu didn't say anything, others would make his life miserable!

Bang!

With his fear turning into anger, the prison guard's expression hardened, and he kicked the plate Gu Chen was holding out of his hands, gritting his teeth.

“You s.coundrel, Gu Chen!”

“How dare you deceive me, putting me in such a dangerous position! From today on, if your meals are better than pig slop, it’s because I’m not doing my job!”

With those words, and leaving Gu Chen's face even more ashen, the guard turned and stormed off.

From a distance, his cold voice rang out: “Listen up, everyone! The prisoner in cell 250 has offended Young Master Su Mu—you all know what that means!”

Gu Chen lowered his head, his face twisted with rage. He muttered to himself like a man on the verge of madness: “Damn it, damn it!”

“Su Mu should die! That guard should die! Everyone in the Absolute Beginning Holy Sect…”

“They should all die!”

Suddenly, a chill from the ring calmed his near-breaking state of mind.

“Powerless fury is a sign of weakness,” the demoness in red robes said coldly in his ear. “Just a little difficulty, and you lose your mind? Gu Chen, you disappoint me.”

“Master… what should I do?” Gu Chen, now calmed, sat on the ground in despair, mumbling to himself.

That sword beam, reaching the heavens, brighter than the sun—it was like a massive shadow looming over him. His efforts seemed like a joke.

After a moment, his expression trembled slightly, finally hearing his master’s response.

“Continue cultivating. The time to escape from the Absolute Beginning Holy Sect is approaching.”

Inside the ring, the red-robed demoness looked indifferent, her eyes flashing with an eerie light.

In her vision, Su Mu was enveloped in layers of intense golden light—a fortune so dense it almost seemed tangible.

Yet now, a layer of that fortune was quietly peeling away.

“Hmm, losing some fortune again? Those with great fortune will not stay in the shadows forever. After long suppression, there will inevitably be a moment of explosive recovery.”

“And by my calculations, that time is drawing near…”

[Ding! Son of Destiny Gu Chen’s fortune -50, your fortune +50]

At the main peak of the Absolute Beginning Holy Sect, two beams of light descended gracefully, forming the figures of Su Mu and Gu Xiaosang as they walked toward the grand hall.

The moment they landed, a system prompt echoed in Su Mu’s ears.

“Hm?”

Su Mu’s eyes flickered with a hint of surprise.

What was going on?

Why did Gu Chen's fortune suddenly plummet so much? And why was it connected to him?

Shaking his head slightly, Su Mu couldn’t fathom how the system calculated these things. However, since it wasn’t a bad thing, he didn't bother to overthink it.

The setting sun was gentle, and the evening clouds drifted like water.

The main hall of the Absolute Beginning Holy Sect was constructed from ancient, unadorned stones, interwoven with mysterious Dao patterns, said to have been personally inscribed by the founding ancestor of the Absolute Beginning Holy Sect.

Swish.

Two figures descended simultaneously from the sky.

“Su Mu!”

The newcomers were none other than Yan Yunkong and Jiang Feng, the other two Holy Son candidates. Their expressions were both complex and filled with resignation.

“Have you both been doing well?” Su Mu greeted them with a smile.

His spotless white robes fluttered, his steps light, leaving behind trails of divine light and auspicious clouds, truly resembling a deity.

Yan Yunkong remained silent. Not long ago, Su Mu had slapped him nearly to death, and earlier today, after he made a grand entrance by making a breakthrough into the Heaven Gate realm, Su Mu’s sword beam had stolen all the glory.

And now he asks if he has been well?

Jiang Feng, in his gray robe and slightly gaunt figure, nodded at Su Mu and said with a smile, “The Holy Master has summoned us, likely to announce the new Holy Son. Congratulations in advance, Brother Su.”

“Su Mu, you hid your strength too well! If you had shown it earlier, I wouldn’t have charged right into the lion’s den and taken that slap. It took me days to recover!” Yan Yunkong, straightforward and burly, spoke with some frustration.

“Anyway, congratulations.”

“Thank you.”

Su Mu nodded with a smile.

In a contest, he would naturally crush his opponents mercilessly, but there was no need to act arrogant and dismissive at all times.

Who said villains must always be haughty?

The truly powerful villain, regardless of their real personality, often appeared approachable and friendly.

Making enemies recklessly is the mark of a fool!

At this moment...

A graceful figure appeared, her movements ethereal and her face veiled by a thin mist. She was like a flower blooming in the clouds, her slender form exuding elegance. Her every movement was like moonlight streaming down, with each inch of her skin appearing untouched by the mortal world, radiating a crystalline glow.

“Tsk, the Holy Maiden has arrived.” Yan Yunkong said with a grin, glancing at Su Mu.

Unlike the Holy Son, the Holy Maiden of this generation had been decided early on.

There was no other reason—this woman was simply too extraordinarily talented, making all her competitors withdraw in shame.

And according to the ancient traditions of all the Holy Lands, the Holy Son often becomes the Dao companion of the Holy Maiden.
